Sustainable Business Forum in Moreton Bay

Posted by

Regional Development Authority (RDA) Moreton Bay is inviting all businesses from the Moreton Bay region to attend an exciting and informative Sustainable Business Forum on Wednesday 10th April 2013 at the Murrumba Downs Tavern.

This is a not-to-be-missed event where businesses can give feedback on the region’s first visionary draft Sustainable Business Strategy and will get hands-on and practical in helping to road test a Toolkit of practical actions that will help businesses to become more sustainable and economically viable.

A sustainable business is efficient in its use of resources such as water, electricity, consumable goods and transport and also minimizes its waste.

RDA Moreton Bay is working with NACC Sustainability and the University of Southern Queensland to develop the Moreton Bay region’s first Sustainable Business Strategy. Through the strategy, RDA Moreton Bay wants to support businesses to grow and be more profitable through the wise use of efficient and sustainable business activities.

Neil Hoddinett, Chair of RDA Moreton Bay, says “RDA Moreton Bay values the views of businesses in the region. The ideas from businesses at the Forum on 10th April 2013 for the Business Sustainability Toolkit and feedback on the draft Sustainable Business Strategy will be very important in making sure we get the Strategy right for the region. There are many benefits for businesses that undertake sustainable practices such as streamlined operations, resource efficiency, costs savings, an increased customer base, resilience to environmental and economic shocks, and also a reduction in the impact on our region’s environment.”

The Forum will be expertly facilitated by Howard Nielsen from NACC Sustainability, with specialist input from Professor John Cole of the Australian Centre for Sustainable Business and Development at the University of Southern Queensland.

Places are limited for the Forum and are filling quickly, so to reserve your place register at www.rdamoretonbay.org.au or phone (07) 5428 0211.

RDA Moreton Bay is one of a national network of 55 Regional Development Australia committees established in partnership between the Australian, State, Territory and Local Governments to develop and strengthen the regional communities of Australia. It has been given a pivotal role in ensuring the long-term sustainability of Australia’s regions.
