25 September 2013: The NSW Government’s Green Globe Awards recognise excellence, leadership and innovation in sustainability.
The Minister for the Environment and Minister for Heritage, Hon. Robyn Parker hosted the gala award ceremony at Parliament House on 24 September. “It’s exciting to see this year’s winners sharing their knowledge and ideas with others, helping to make businesses, communities and Government more sustainable,” said Ms Parker. “Congratulations to all winners for their ‘leadership by example’ and for demonstrating how sustainability brings social and economic benefits to NSW.”
“The Awards not only celebrate the high calibre of environmental initiatives in NSW, they also build partnerships within the sustainability community,” said Ms Parker.
The big winners of the night were Nimbin Neighbourhood and Information Centre and The GPT Group, both winning the peak award – the Premier’s Award for Environmental Excellence.
Natalie Meyer, Team Leader from Nimbin Neighbourhood and Information Centre hopes that other groups can learn from their experiences.
“We entered the Green Globe Awards to help promote sustainability as a platform for community development.”
